Kinky Twists on Children by BraidologySM

Hair: BraidologySM
:)

All smiles with her kinky twists! This style is great for children. However the braider must have a good judgement on the proper size and length of the twists. This should all be discussed in a consultation prior to the appointment if possible. Cornrows for Children by BraidologySM (Gentle Touch)

Many children have a fear for getting their hair braided. I guess since I learned how to braid as a child on children I have a gentle touch. As a braider it is important to understand the integrity of hair. There is a reason a client's hair responds certain ways to tension.

This style is done in two rows of cornrows (french  braids) with a curved diagonal part in the back and the front is a bit of a freestyle. To learn this gentle touch technique visit my YouTube channel at BraidologySM and subscribe so you you won't miss out on my tutorials that will launch in December :)

Individuals for Children by BraidologySM

Many people feel that individual braids are not appropriate for children. In some cases I do agree. The  main factors I consider are the child's age, maturity, condition of the hair (especially the hairline), and the lifestyle. These things should be evaluated prior the service being provided. It is important to know if the child will twist the braids to where it can cause breakage. The condition of the hairline is vital  because if the braids carry too much wait the hairline will be compromised resulting in breakage and or permanent follicle damage. The lifestyle is a factor because if the child swims a lot it is vital to remove the chlorine from the hair and condition well. Overall this style is very low maintenance and is very versatile. Make sure a thorough consultation is conducted to be certain this style is the proper fit for your child or client.

Cornrows with a Diagonal Part by BraidologySM

Hair: BraidologySM

This is a simple cornrow (french braided) style with a diagonal part. There are two rows to add a little fullness. As you can see there is no extreme tension on the edges. Compromising the clients hairline is NEVER worth the risk. Want to learn my technique on minimized tension when braiding?
